This is a particularly fragrant, head-turning Pinot, with amazingly lifted aromatics and a soft medium framed structure - one would not pick this is Italian from the first whiff or sip. The old vine Novello component brings its frame from the Barolo terroir while the high elevation of the Dogliani site shows the finesse and high toned charm of great Pinot Noir. Aromatically deep and brimming with red fruits, delicate smokey spice and ferrous notes the wine has a silken texture and moorish quality. This is not your average Pinot Nero, this is genuinely classy European Pinot Noir.
