István Balassa started the winery in 2005 in the village of Mád. He uses careful, artisanal methods to show the unique qualities of each vineyard plot. The estate is known for making some of the sharpest, highest-quality dry white wines in Hungary.

This is an ancient Hungarian grape. People usually know it for sweet dessert wines, but it makes an incredible dry wine. The grapes grow on rocky, volcanic soils in Tokaj. This gives the wine a distinct, stony mineral edge. You will taste green apple, ripe pear, quince, and fresh citrus and it has a lively acid-line to it while still remaining quite creamy.
