BILANCIA - TIRATORE CHARDONNAY

BILANCIA - TIRATORE CHARDONNAY
A single vineyard Chardonnay from vines originally planted in 2001 on the lower slopes of La Collina Vineyard. The name of the wine comes from the Italian word "tiratore", which means hunter/marksman. When they were planting the vines, they found old bullets in nearly every hole dug on the slope of La Collina, and their theory is that the area was used as a firing range for target practice.
Their flagship wine has scored 96 points from Erin Larkin (Robert Parker's Wine Advocate) and rightly so. It is layered, with complex notes of market spices, liquorice, nuts, fantastic acidity and tasty ripe citrus and stone fruits. A great example of NZ Chardy!
