The Dhillon Macedon Ranges Accidental Red is a bright, light-bodied, chillable red wine made by Michael Dhillon of the acclaimed Bindi Wines in Victoria's Macedon Ranges. The wine was created by accident in 2022 when surplus Merlot juice (leftover from pressing rosé) was combined with Shiraz pressings that had too much color for rosé. Using pressed Shiraz juice means there is half the usual amount of grape skins for the wine volume, leading to a quick wild yeast fermentation and light extraction. It is aged for six months in barrel.
