This is a rare one-off from Lonely Shore, the Denmark-based label that normally makes only Pinot Noir. Winemaker Liam Carmody sourced the fruit from the Swinney vineyards in Frankland River. Their dry-grown bush vines on ironstone slopes have helped put WA Grenache on the map. Expect a fragrant, light-to-medium-bodied red with plush red fruits, florals and silky black cherry, a savoury, ferrous edge, and very fine tannins. The approach should suit Grenache well: a pinot maker’s light, site-focused hand.
