Paying homage to the original founder John Shenk, the Shenk's Homestead is from the legacy series by Michter's. This release uses a substantial amount of rye and more whiskey aged in Chinquapin Oak. The wood has been naturally air dried and seasoned for at least 3 years. The longer seasoning combined with the specific toast and char allows the oak aromas and characteristics specific to Chinquapin oak to fully shine.

Michter's Distillery has gone through a few name changes, originally known as Shenk's, and later Bomberger's. In 1753 it was John Shenk who founded the distillery in Schaefferston Pennsylvania. Through the Mid-1800's Abraham Bomberger took over and in eventually landed with Lou Forman who combined his sons names Michael and Peter to form Michter's distillery.
