This Umbrian white is a blend of three grapes — 50% Trebbiano Spoletino, 30% Grechetto and 20% Chardonnay — each vinified differently: the Grechetto in steel for freshness, the Chardonnay in small wood casks for texture, the Trebbiano on skins for depth. Nine months of ageing later and you've got something more interesting than your average Italian white.

In the glass it's a glowing straw gold. The nose is generous — ripe peach, apricot, yellow flowers, a little dried fruit sweetness — with a subtle herbal lift and fresh thyme in the background. On the palate it opens juicy and full-bodied, with lively acidity keeping it from going heavy, and a long, spicy finish that lands somewhere between white pepper and almond.

A seriously versatile white — and one of the more distinctive things on the shelf right now. Drink it with food. Or don't. We approve either way!
