This exceptional Barbera comes from vines with an average age of 40 years, grown on limestone marl soils at 300m/asl in Castagnole delle Lanze (Piani), Costigliole d’Asti and Montegrosso d’Asti. The hand harvested fruit is macerated on skins for 10 days in tank, transferred to French oak to complete malo, matured for one year in French barriques, and aged 6 months in bottle before release. 

From the get-go you can tell why this is labelled Superiore - heavenly aromatics of violet, blackcurrant, blueberry, blackcherry, mushroom, licorice and star-anise; a lithe and structured structured palate with integrated tannins that carries the earthy character; the backdrop of black and blue fruits. Bravo!
