LINEA RETTA - GAVI DEL COMUNE DI GAVI
LINEA RETTA - GAVI DEL COMUNE DI GAVI
Linea Retta is a collaboration between Italy’s Giorgio Rivetti of La Spinetta and Western Australia’s own Larry Cherubino. The name ‘Linea Retta’ is an Italian expression meaning ‘in a direct line’ and refers to the two renowned winemakers’ shared ‘vineyard first’ winemaking philosophy.
This Gavi is crafted frorm 25 year old Cortese vines at 280m asl from varied soils of white and yellow limestone soils interspersed with clay and iron-oxide gravels. 2021 was an early growing season and good diurnal range during the ripening season that preserved natural acidity. The Cortese was hand picked and whole-bunches were gently pressed to ferment in stainless steel on lees. The Cortese’s intense fragrant freshness is captured with stone fruit and citrus to the fore, but the star is the elegant texture and delicate mineral expression.
